We went apple picking with the Reilly's at Lawrence Farms Orchard. Trying to get in Reilly time before they are off. It was a lot of fun and really nice to get out of the city. The farm is great and has everything: apples (all kinds), peaches, pears, peppers, raspberries, corn, etc.
Of course, it started out with a car ride. The girls don't love car rides, they love stroller rides, so Nicole tries to find things to occupy them and keep them happy (really though they are usually always good no matter what we are doing). They got sunglasses for this trip. Elle is very girly. She likes anything that involves accessorizing. Sophie wouldn't keep the glasses on.

Upon arrival they have this little store front where you can rent wagons for hauling your load. Your supposed to go out empty and come back full. We started out full with these two. Sophie stayed in the wagon and enjoyed it the whole time, Elle not so much.

Anson pulled the girls around a lot of the time (most of the apples lower on the trees were picked, so of course I was a designated apple picker). Anson and Amanda always help out a ton with the girls and the girls love them.
Both girls loved eating the apples, but Sophie especially loved it. She spent a majority of the time with her head buried like this eating her apple, only coming up for air. She worked on that apple for most of the trip and came close to finishing it, and would have if we hadn't taken it.
After apple picking we searched out a place to eat. I suggested we find a "crappy" shack on the side of the road but after looking at some the Reilly's had passed on the way up, we decided my idea wasn't so great and went for something better. Some nice people at one of the shacks mentioned a Panera Bread up the road so off we went. Turns out there was a Chili's right next door. Nicole loves Chili's and wanted to eat there but didn't know if the Reilly's would want to. When we got out of the car Amanda came up and told us we could say no, but did we want to go to Chili's because they love it. Great minds think alike I guess. Funny, with all the places to eat in the city we were excited about Chili's.
After lunch/dinner we parted ways with the Reilly's and headed home. We took a different route on the way home which runs along the Hudson River. It was a beautiful drive and such a nice end to the day. We stopped at this little ice cream shack on the way and enjoyed some shakes and took a side route so I could show Nic the bike route I ride when coming out here.
A great day with good friends. We're glad you came last minute Anson and Amanda.
